Rotary tends to attract a particular sort of person...
Usually they have been a "mover or shaker" or have a record of achievement in their career or perhaps they hold a senior position or they may own their own business.
Typically they enjoy the company of other people and love to share ideas, stop to chat and are happy to get involved when something needs to be done...
Most importantly they have a desire to help, to "put something back in" and they have decided to make this a priority in their lives.
Does this sound like you? If it does, why not come along and see what we do?

We love celtic music and want to give you every opportunity to join in the scene! Traditionally, celtic tunes have been passed on from player to player by ear at jam sessions and kitchen parties. The emphasis is on getting together to share music. Come and join in our Wednesday night jam sessions at Box Hill Commmunity Arts Centre, look out for our kids' holidays programs, or immerse yourself in our workshops or annual camp with top musicians from here and around the world. Mitcham Community Meal is a not for profit charity.
We offer a free hot meal every Sunday night to the homeless and vulnerable in the Whitehorse area.
We run volunteer teams who cook and connect with 35-45 guests each Sunday.
Our organisation is run entirely off volunteers and no one is paid for their services.
In the 10 months since we have started we have had an explosive community response from volunteers. We have cooking teams booked up 6 months in advance, with a waiting list for even more once we start taking bookings again. Our volunteers consists of school groups, sporting clubs, church groups, small businesses, mothers groups etc.
Our clients, although we prefer to call them guests, are those in the area with mental conditions, addiction issues, fleeing abusive home conditions, sleeping in their cars etc. We welcome anyone to attend our meals, but hope to connect mainly with the most vulnerable.
Our goal is to provide community for these otherwise overlooked people.
