Keynote Speaker - The Hon Joe Helper - Minister Small Business and Agriculture
                       

Joe Helper is the current Minister for Small Business as well as the Minister for Agriculture.

Having run his own business, Joe understands the important role played by small business throughout the community.

Joe started his working life as a motor mechanic and returned to his trade in 1996 when he became the proprietor of Newstead Motors in regional Victoria.

In October 1999, Joe was elected to State Parliament as the Member for Ripon, building on his interest in regional issues.  In 2002 Joe was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development.

In 2007, Joe was appointed Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Small Business.

Joe's portfolio has ranged from providing the necessary programs and services to assist the estimated
483,000 plus small businesses in Victoria, to providing the business initiatives that support the various sectors of business.
