Winner of the Box Hill Institute of TAFE 2008/09 Whitehorse Business of Year Overall Business Excellence Award went to Maton Guitars    
   


Maton Guitars, (pronounced ‘May Ton’), was established in 1946 and is currently located in Box Hill. Originally founded in Melbourne by Bill May, Maton is still a 100% family owned Australian company.  Maton specialises in creating quality acoustic and electric guitars, made from Australian timbers.  Maton exports its products to countries across the globe and recognized as a leading guitar manufacturer.  Many notable performers now perform on the local and international stages playing Maton Guitars. Currently experience steady business growth due to the recognized quality of Maton products and the optimum customer service it offers.

Silliker Australia has strengthened its ability to service and support clients in Australia by drawing upon worldwide resources and scientific expertise within its network. Silliker Australia’s focus is consulting and lab analysis in Industrial Microbiology, Chemistry and their related areas.

Located in the beautiful, quaint shopping precinct of Laburnum in Blackburn, this thriving café employs 19 staff.  Business owner Peter Plummer has been in the hospitality business for over 25 years and saw the potential of this unique café and took ownership recently to further grow the business.  With a strong community and customer service focus Gourmet Girl Café sets a high standard through their presentation, varied menu and friendly atmosphere.

 

 

 Winner of the City of Whitehorse 2008/09 Whitehorse Mayoral Award Environment and Sustainability went to Water & Energy Savers

 

 

 

 Located in Burwood and established in 1992, Water & Energy Savers employs over 40 staff.  An innovative Australian organisation at the global forefront of developing, providing and managing practical, technical and engineered solutions for the water and energy resources used by commercial and industrial business, government and the private sector.  A business that has moved to address the global challenges that we are all faced with, in particular our environment.  Offering specialist services in design and supply of environmentally sustainable initiatives.
